I am Radha Kumari. I am 20 years old. I grew up in a village in India where girls have no voice. I found my voice through football and education. I grew up in rural Jharkhand–an area where 6/10 girls drop out of school and become young brides.
I have evaded child marriage and fought for my right to education.

“There were five of us and we were traveling for five days in Croatia to Italy when we were caught by the Croatian police. My friends and I were thrown in a police van and the weather was very hot and the fans were turned off and we were suffocating. And my friends mixed me with Pakistani immigrants when we were about twenty and the Croatian police threw us all into a van that could not hold more than six people and it was going fast and turned off the air and we wished for death in those moments and then, they took us all to the border and lined up and put pepper spray in our eyes. We ran with our eyes closed and we were scared and we could not see anywhere because we could not open our eyes and our eyes were burning and sore for about two hours.”

The story began the day I was selected as the team captain by the school team and by the sport coach. A football match was held between four schools in the same area. We only had a week to practice and then play in matches. Finally, the matches started. We won the game with the brilliance of me, Taher Hussaini.
